| On behalf of the 590 members of the Hot Springs Board of REALTORS®, who call Hot Springs, Arkansas home, I would like to welcome you to our web site.
The members of the Hot Springs Board of REALTORS® believe that home ownership is the cornerstone of our democratic system of government. The opportunity to own a home has inspired all generations of Americans and brings individuals into economic and social mainstream. Home ownership benefits society by fostering pride and participation in one's community. It encourages saving and promotes social and political stability. Home ownership deserves a preferred place in our system of social values. We all must continue to review all obstacles preventing home ownership and remove such barriers.
Private ownership of real property is the foundation of our nation's free enterprise system. An unrestriced and continuing opportunity for every citizen to own real property must be a recognized goal that we all dedicate ourselves to maintain.
We support efforts to develop a comprehensive housing policy. We also support all programs alleviating homelessness, promoting low-income housing and assisting first-time home buyers.
We support the building of new afforable rental housing, while preserving current buildings through renovation and restoration. Citizens of low and moderate income levels need affordable housing. To meet this demand, we call on all levels of government to assist the private sector by removing all obstacles to financing, production, and improvement of affordable rental housing. Communities should encourage investment in new and existing housing.
We believe the present landlord/tenant laws and regulations are sufficient to address and/or maintain fair and equitable treatment for all parties.
We subscribe to the policy of fair housing; we believe that equal opportunity in housing can best be achieved through continued leadership, observance of the law, educational and mutual cooperation of the real estate indsutry and the public through a free and open housing market. The Federal Fair Housing Laws provide for the rights of all people to freely choose where they will live without regard to race, color, religion, sex, handicap, familial status, or national origin. We believe that all levels of government should insure that these principles are maintained.
